  8. INTRODUCTION:  CADRE 1.02 is a Windows 3.1 finite element structural
  9. and dynamic analysis program used for calculating displacements and 
  10. loads in static structures, or frequencies and modal vibration shapes
  11. in dynamic structures.  This unlicensed shareware version is made
  12. available for evaluation purposes only. CADRE 1.02 is compatible with
  13. Windows 95.

  15. WHATS NEW WITH THIS EDITION:  
  16.  
  17. 1) CADRE 1.02 has been modified to make it compatible with 
  18.    international number formats set in Windows 3.1 or Windows 95.
  19. 2) CADRE 1.02 provides a feature to print to a file with field
  20.    separators.  These allow importation of the output into a 
  21.    spreadsheet where the data can be acessed by graphing software.

  28. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  29.  
  30.     IBM or compatible 386 with 4 megabytes RAM minimum.
  31.  
  32.     IBM or compatible 486 with 8 megabytes RAM recommended.
  33.  
  34.     MicroSoft Windows 3.1 (or Windows 95) operation system.
  35.  
  36.     Windows 3.1 compatible Printer with TrueType Fonts

  38. SETUP:
  39.     
  40.   1) If you downloaded a packed self executing file cd102.exe:
  41.  
  42.    The self extracting file first displays a dialog box to allow selection
  43.    of a temporary directory to put the initial unpacked files, then the 
  44.    files will be automatically extracted to the temporary directory of your
  45.    choice. If the directory doesn't exist, then it will be created.  After
  46.    unpacking, the installation program will automatically be executed
  47.    provided you leave that option checked in the initial dialog box where
  48.    you chose the temporary unpacking directory.  
  49.  
  50.    If you had unchecked that option, then to continue the installation, 
  51.    you must go to the file manager and click on the file SETUP.EXE in the
  52.    temporary directory. 
  53.  
  54.    You can now delete the temporary directory (i.e. C:\Cadtemp ) and all 
  55.    of its files after saving CD102.exe somewhere for safe keeping. 
  56.  
  57.    Alternatively, the files in the temporary directory 
  58.    (excluding CD101b.exe) could be copied to a floppy to create a
  59.    standard setup disk for CADRE 1.02. 
  60.  
  61.   2) If you downloaded a file named cd102.zip you will need to aquire an
  62.      unzipping utility.  We recommend PKZIP by PKWARE or WinZip by Nico
  63.      Mak.  Both are available as shareware.  Unzip the file to a 
  64.      temporary directory.  Then go to the file manager and click on the
  65.      file named SETUP.EXE as explaned in (1) above.

  67.   3) If you are using a CADRE 1.02 setup disk follow the directions on the 
  68.   Label and setup it up from the Program Manager in Windows 3.1.
  69.  
  70.   4) During installation you may receive a notice such as:
  71.  
  72.     "Unable to copy DDEML.DL_ - file in use".
  73.  
  74.     This may be caused when other windows programs are in use.  This
  75.     notice almost always occurs if you are using Windows 95.  If you get 
  76.     this message, just press OK to ignore it because if you're using 
  77.     it, you already have it on your system anyway.
  78.  
  79.   5) At the end of the setup routine you are asked if you want to
  80.   add the extension ".fem" to the association list in your WIN.INI
  81.   file.  Choosing YES, you will always be able to execute a  
  82.   ".fem" file by clicking on it in the File Manager.  You can always
  83.   set this up later right from the Windows 3.1 File Manager by choosing
  84.   the Associate item under the menu File item.

  86. GETTING STARTED:  
  87.  
  88. The best way to get familiar with CADRE is to go through the 
  89. sample exercises in the
  90.  
  91.     Help - Getting started
  92.  
  93. file on the main menu bar.  This contains 6 exercises to lead 
  94. you through examining, creating, and solving both static and 
  95. dynamic models.

  97. SAMPLES:
  98.  
  99. An instructive group of samples are provided with the setup
  100. Disk.  They are sumarized in the file SAMPLES.TXT.   
  101.  
  102. The help file is extensive, context sensitive, and is intended to 
  103. be an online manual for CADRE 1.02.  You can use the F1 key when
  104. any form is displayed to get help on that form.  
  105.  
  106. Although the evaluation version of CADRE 1.02 provides the full
  107. set of features and capabilities for building finite element models, 
  108. The best and easiest way to construct large complex models is with
  109. the special tools offered in most drawing applications then converting
  110. these to DXF files and subsequently to CADRE FEM files.  Conversion
  111. utilities both to and from DXF files are provided free to registered
  112. CADRE users.  Conversion utilities to convert between measurement
  113. systems (Metric, English) are also provided free with registration.
